UGLE’s New Image
If you have read the Winter 2015 edition of “Freemasonry Today” you will know that Grand Lodge is aiming to modernise the face of Freemasonry.
The starting point for UGLE’s new branding, which aims to create a unified approach to Freemasonry’s image, is the new logo seen here on the right.
Society has changed, according to the article in “Freemasonry Today”, and the Coat of Arms, which for generations has been a mark of status and standing in society, no longer communicates the message that a modern membership organisation needs to convey.
The team responsible for the new logo discovered that the Square and Compasses was the most recognisable symbol and from this developed the new image chosen because it was both contemporary and instantly recognisable and retains a strong sense of history.
