Succesful February Meeting
The regular meeting of Lodge Temperance 2557 held on Tuesday 18th February was a resounding success, despite a very last minute change to the order of business. We had hoped to initiate a new candidate but for reasons beyond our control this wasn’t possible, so instead, the Worshipful Master gave a short talk on preparing a Candidate for Initiation. It was enjoyed by all and caused much discussion among our members and visitors both during the meeting and afterwards at the festive board.
Bro Dr. Chris proposed and W bro Peter seconded a potential candidate as a fit and proper person to be made a Freemason. Candidate has been informed and invited to attend an informal interview at the Lodge Temperance 2557 coach meeting in March.
At the festive board, the proceeds of the raffle were in aid of the Worshipful Master’s charity “Michelle Henderson’s Cervical Cancer Trust”. This trust was the vision of Scottish football legend Willie Henderson’s daughter Michelle. Michelle Henderson was diagnosed with cervical cancer in October 2010 and bravely fought the disease for 2 years before sadly passing away on 1st October 2012 (her 28th birthday). Michelle set up the Trust to give back to those who had helped her during her treatment, she also wanted to raise awareness of the condition and in turn raise funds towards hospital equipment, medicines and support groups for women suffering from the illness.
