The latest from our Chaplain, Wbro Keith Newman:

A Newcastle residents association is better connected with the World Wide Web thanks to the generosity of a world wide fraternal organisation.

Freemason’s from Northumberland will help bring new skills to the community after a much-needed donation of £3,250 to Fenham Association of Residents (FAR). The kind gesture enabled the 40-year-old charity to buy new laptops and a printer for their base in Acanthus Avenue, Fenham.

The computers will be used to help children, young people and other members of the community access and develop new skills around education, employment and group learning in an informal but educational setting.

Project Manager Mark Gowland said, “We’re delighted to receive this fantastic donation from Northumberland Freemasons. It is such a generous donation and will go a long way in helping us to achieve our aims to help members of our community who might not have access to IT themselves”.

Brian Denton representing the Provincial Grand Lodge of Northumberland said;

“We feel that it’s important that everyone is computer and IT literate. Life revolves around the Internet and knowing your way around a keyboard can bring information, education and leisure time too. This donation is typical of our work, last year we made 37 donations to local organisations and charities totalling almost £51,000.”

Northumberland freemasons will be celebrating the 300th anniversary of their organisation next year.
