Bro James Robert Walsh
Bro James Robert Welsh was a Freemason and member of Lodge Temperance 2557.
At the Lodge Temperance meeting held on 18th December 1899 at the Central Masonic Hall, Pilgrim Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne Bro James was proposed by Bro Andrew Gourley, Senior Deacon and seconded by WBro John Armstrong, Immediate Past Master, as a fit and proper person to be made a Freemason.
He was a 21 year old clerk residing at 2 Booth Street, Felling, Co. Durham. A successful ballot was held on 15th January 1900 and at the same meeting he was initiated into the mysteries and privileges of Ancient Freemasonry. He was passed to the second or Fellowcraft degree on 19th February and raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on 19th March 1900.
He was installed as Worshipful Master in the chair of King Solomon at Lodge Temperance 2557 in 1909. He was also a founding member and first assistant director of ceromonies of Lodge Prudence 3424 which was consecrated on 30th March 1910.
