Freemason’s Registers
Membership registers 1751-1921 from the collection of the United Grand Lodge of England held by the Library and Museum has just been released on the ancestry.co.uk website.
Each lodge has been obliged since 1768 to return to the Grand Lodge, on an annual basis, a list of its members. These returns are used to compile the membership registers, described as Contribution Books, which are reproduced in this collection.
The collection is fully indexed and searchable which means that if one of our members joined more than one Lodge their details will be recorded and easy to trace. In particular it will give their mother Lodge and dates of their three degrees which will be of great help in compiling the biographies of our founding members and WW1 heroes.
We will be updating our members biographies with this information in the coming days so keep checking back for all the latest news from Lodge Temperance.
