Our First Summons
A recent visit to the Library of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Northumberland proved very successful in finding several items relating to the early days of Lodge Temperance 2557. In addition to books, the library contains many items of local Masonic interest and W Bro Ian Brown PProvGReg, Provincial Librarian, uncovered a bound collection of our summonses from the first meeting held on 11th November 1895 to the meeting on 17th November 1902. The first use of the Lodge crest can be seen on the summons for the April 1896 meeting.
WBro Ian also found the Provincial Register of Petitions for Lodges in the Province of Northumberland which includes a hand written copy of the Petition prepared by the founding members of Lodge Temperance 2557.
If you need Masonic information for your research the Provincial Library is a resource well worth checking out and W. Bro. Ian can be contacted at [email protected].
