In May we announced the discovery of thirty three forgotten war heroes, Lodge Temperance 2557 members who served in the war but are not listed on the hand written Roll taped at the end of the Lodge’s minute book that covers the period of the First World War.

We have no idea why only 15 names made the Roll of Honour when we now know at least 48 saw active service with the Colours, some making the supreme sacrifice.

These names have now been included in our WW1 Roll of Honour page and the first biography added. Private James Maghie Black served with the Durham Light Infantry in France at the third battle of Ypres and then with the Army Service Corps, Mechanical Transport Depot Company in England.

Please check out his story here.

Our WW1 Roll of Honour can be found here.

Keep checking back for all the news and events for Lodge Temperance 2557.
