‘Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community Fund’ raises money for charities and projects that are helping people through the current coronavirus pandemic.
With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to challenge all of us in our everyday lives, the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) is working in partnership with the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) to help Freemasonry respond to this national crisis.
The MCF has allocated £2.75m to support Freemasonry’s charitable response to COVID-19. This money is already being used to fund local projects across the country identified by UGLE’s ten Regional Communication Groups.
Projects supported include the provision of Personal Protective Equipment to NHS and care workers; funding meals prepared at masonic halls for isolated and vulnerable people; and supporting the recruitment of volunteers for local Age UK branches and other services.
To raise additional funds in support of the longer-term relief effort, the MCF has also established the Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community Fund – a special appeal dedicated to raising money for charities and projects that are helping people through the current coronavirus pandemic.
The Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community Fund is administered through our well-established Relief Chest Scheme and the MCF will match donations received up to £1 million.
All funds raised will be distributed either to a registered charity or to any other COVID-19 related activity, as agreed by the COVID-19 Regional Communication Groups (RCG).
